  • Shane McMahon announced that Chad Gable is off the Backlash show due to the “injury” he suffered at the hands of Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso on Smackdown. Shane claimed that Gable suffered an MCL injury that won’t require surgery, but will sideline him for two to four weeks.

Jimmy and Jey Uso targeted Gable's leg and the 2012 Olympian will now miss Backlash after sustaining a knee injury that will sideline him for two to four weeks.

  • The Usos came out of nowhere to become No. 1 contenders and were seen as heavy underdogs heading in, but Jimmy and Jey Uso stood toe-to-toe with Rollins and Reigns and the four men tore the house down with a highly entertaining match.

The rumor is that it all goes back to Heath Slater, and it also involves the Usos as well. It was that WWE had plans to turn Jimmy and Jey Uso heel at some point soon due to a top heel tag team being needed on SmackDown Live. With American Alpha the clear fan favorite babyface team, the Uso brothers fit in perfectly as heels to counter the former WWE NXT Tag Team Champions.

  • Instead, Jimmy and Jey Uso will get another chance as they face the Hype Bros., who were defeated by Heath Slater and Rhyno to determine who will face Slater and Rhyno for the titles in the Final at Backlash. I’m guessing that match will take place on the preshow, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s on the main card.

American Alpha and The Usos went at it in this semifinals match of the SmackDown Tag Team Championship Tournament. Jimmy and Jey Uso were clearly looking to prove why they were the standard-bearers of the tag team division for years now, while Jason Jordan and Chad Gable were aiming to show why they were straight up ready to snatch that flag and run with it like they were the Team USA Basketball team on a fast break.
